Arsenal: Mikel Arteta makes an announcement about his future

As his contract nears its end, Mikel Arteta has made clear his desire to continue what has become a historic spell on the Arsenal bench.

Appointed in December 2019, Mikel Arteta has never hidden his attachment to Arsenal. With his contract set to expire in June 2027, the Spaniard appeared calm about his future: "I want to be here. I am extremely happy." Both parties are expected to begin discussions soon to extend a partnership that has become exceptionally fruitful.

A record of 217 victories

Since his arrival, Arteta has overseen 352 matches across all competitions. His record stands at 217 wins, 60 draws, and 75 losses, giving him a win rate of around 61.6%. No Arsenal manager had ever won as many matches in their first 300 games. After three successive second-place finishes, he finally led the Gunners to the Premier League title in 2025-2026. Arsenal also reached the Champions League final, where they lost to PSG.

Four trophies and massive spending

Arteta's trophy haul in London includes four titles: the 2020 FA Cup, the Community Shields in 2020 and 2023, and the 2026 Premier League. However, this rebuild came at a hefty price. Since December 2019, Arsenal is believed to have spent around €1.28 billion on transfer fees, with a net investment close to €993 million. It's a costly policy, but one that has transformed a rebuilding club into a credible contender on all fronts. Extending his contract would now ensure continuity for the project.
