Arsenal remains interested in signing Arnold

Arsenal are said to be plotting a rather bold swoop for Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Real Madrid full-back who once made his name at Liverpool.

Since swapping Merseyside for the Spanish capital, the England international has endured something of an up-and-down chapter, and his inconsistent performances ultimately cost him a spot in the World Cup squad last summer.

Reports from Fussball News suggest the Gunners are giving serious thought to luring him back to English football, and it is believed Real Madrid might be willing to sit down at the table for a fee in the region of €70–80million.

Arsenal wants Arnold because he could be a purely technical asset

Arsenal already have two dependable options at right-back in Jurrien Timber and Ben White, yet bringing in Alexander-Arnold would give Mikel Arteta's side an entirely different dimension in that role.

The 27-year-old possesses an outstanding passing repertoire and is even capable of finding the net from set-pieces or striking from distance in open play.

Neither Timber nor White truly offers that kind of weapon, so it would be fascinating to watch Arsenal introduce such quality down their right-hand side.

Would Arnold agree to this move to London?

Even though Alexander-Arnold has already damaged his relationship with Liverpool to some extent by letting his contract run down and joining Real Madrid, it would still spark enormous controversy if he were to make a swift comeback to England with one of their fiercest rivals.

Having come up through Liverpool's academy and developed into one of the club's most vital first-team figures, the idea of him turning out for another Premier League club is difficult to picture.
