Arthur Masuaku completes transfer to Konyaspor

Arthur Masuaku is set to open a new chapter of his career in Turkey. The Congolese international defender has arrived in Konya for his medical and to finalise his transfer to Konyaspor, following an agreement reached between Sunderland and the Süper Lig club.

According to Sky Sports, the two clubs found common ground over the past 48 hours. The move will see Masuaku leave Sunderland, whom he joined in the summer of 2025. Reports from Turkey indicate a two-year contract, with no transfer fee paid to the English club.

The Leopard thus returns to a league he knows inside out. After starting his career in Belgium, notably at Standard Liège, Masuaku made his name on the European stage with KRC Genk before joining West Ham in 2014. At the Hammers, he gradually established himself as a left-back with an attacking flair, renowned for his technical skills and forward runs.

His Premier League spell allowed him to build up valuable top-flight experience. In 2022, he discovered the Süper Lig with Beşiktaş, initially on loan from West Ham. His impressive performances for the Istanbul side—marked by his offensive presence and ability to deliver dangerous crosses and set pieces—ultimately led to a permanent transfer.

Masuaku also featured in European competitions with his various clubs, further enhancing his international experience. His versatile profile allows him to operate as a left-back or wing-back, with the ability to push forward and contribute to build-up play.

After his stint at Beşiktaş, the Congolese defender returned to England, continuing his journey with Sunderland. Last season, however, he was loaned to Lens for the second half of the campaign, gaining more experience in the French league.

Now, Masuaku is looking to reignite his career at Konyaspor. His Süper Lig experience, European pedigree, and attacking qualities make him a key addition for the Konya club, which aims to make the Congolese international a major reinforcement for their left flank.
