Things are heating up in Spain! Atlético Madrid is refusing to be outmaneuvered by FC Barcelona in the Julián Alvarez affair.

While the Colchoneros have rejected advances from the Catalan club, they've announced that they've filed an official complaint against the Blaugranas, denouncing Barcelona's approach methods regarding the Argentine striker. This Thursday, news agency EFE reports that the Spanish federation has decided to take action against Barcelona in this matter.

"The Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has decided to open extraordinary disciplinary proceedings against FC Barcelona due to its alleged contacts with Julián Alvarez, the Argentine striker from Atlético Madrid whose contract runs until 2030, as communicated by the body to both clubs," the statement reads.

The EFE news agency also adds that the committee has appointed an investigator to handle the proceedings and has notified FC Barcelona, "which now has a period of time to submit its observations."
