Ballon d'Or 2026: Christophe Galtier names his choice

In exactly 26 days, we will know the name of the winner of the 2026 Ballon d'Or. French coach Christophe Galtier has given his opinion on the future winner.

Speaking to Le Parisien, Christophe Galtier said he would award the supreme prize to Fabián Ruiz. "I’d like that! If we look at the trophies won, I would name Fabián Ruiz. If we focus on the matches, I think Ousmane Dembélé, even though he has not played much, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have performed very well. One of these three players would deserve to win the Ballon d’Or. I would be happy for them, and I would be happy if a player from a French team won it," he said.

The French coach said he was impressed by the former Napoli player's progress in the capital: "He had arrived without preparation because he was on his way out of Napoli and was very far from being physically ready. He had to adapt to a club of incredible stature and integrate into this team. It was difficult at the beginning because our team had talent, but not the same collective strength as it does today."
