Barça pulls out all the stops for Rodri

FC Barcelona is preparing an improved offer for Rodri and hopes to quickly reach a financial compromise with Manchester City.

The Rodri transfer saga could reach its conclusion in the coming days. According to Sport, FC Barcelona is now ready to offer between €60 and €65 million guaranteed, with various bonuses added on top.

A compromise to be found with Manchester City

Manchester City is reportedly demanding at least €70 million for their Spanish midfielder, though some estimates put the price tag as high as €80 million. Barça is hoping the Cityzens will be willing to compromise and agree on a middle ground.

A deal in the region of €65–70 million, including bonuses, seems the most logical outcome. Barring any major twists, it’s hard to imagine negotiations reaching this stage without crossing the finish line before the summer transfer window closes.

A final season disrupted by injuries

During the 2025-2026 campaign, Rodri featured in 33 matches across all competitions. In the Premier League, he made 21 appearances, including 17 starts, clocking 1,512 minutes and scoring once.

However, his season was hampered by several physical setbacks. With a contract running until June 2027, the player now has just one year remaining, limiting Manchester City's negotiating leverage. A transfer would allow him to return to La Liga, which he left in 2019 after his spell at Atlético Madrid.

Rodri is still riding high from a remarkable 2026 World Cup. A starter in all eight of Spain's matches, he won the tournament and received the Golden Ball for best player.

The midfielder completed 790 passes—a record for a single edition. In the final against Argentina, he notably completed 101 of his 105 passes and won 80% of his duels.
