According to statistics released after the game, Barcelona had reached at least 22 goals after their first five matches on only four previous occasions, including 23 goals in 1950-51 and 24 in another historic campaign.

Their consistency in front of goal is equally remarkable. Barça have scored five or more goals in four of their first five matches: a 5-0 win over Elche, a 2-0 victory against Athletic Club, a 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano, a 5-0 victory against Valencia, and now a 5-1 triumph over Feyenoord. The run highlights Hansi Flick’s side’s ability to maintain a high attacking intensity from one game to the next.

Raphinha has played a major role in that attacking momentum. The Brazilian scored again against Feyenoord and, according to statistics released after the match, became the second player in Barcelona’s history to score in each of the club’s first five competitive matches of a season, after César achieved the feat in 1950-51.
