Barcelona: Will Raphinha feature against PSG in the Champions League? Joan Laporta lifts the lid!
Having picked up a thigh injury with Brazil, Raphinha will miss the match against Getafe despite his exceptional start to the season with Barcelona.
Barcelona will have to do without Raphinha when they host Getafe this Saturday at 6:30 p.m., on Matchday 8 of La Liga. The Brazilian, who picked up a slight thigh problem during the international break, was not included in the squad selected by Hansi Flick for the match.
His absence had been expected since the German coach's press conference. Raphinha felt a muscle problem with Brazil after a break marked by numerous trips. Initial examinations had nevertheless ruled out a serious injury, but Barça ultimately chose not to take any risks with one of their most decisive players.
Laporta offers reassurance ahead of PSG
Joan Laporta was reassuring about what comes next. “The doctors tell us that Raphinha will be available for Paris,” explained the Barça president, referring to the upcoming European meeting with Paris Saint-Germain, scheduled for 20 October in the Champions League.
The Catalan president also took the opportunity presented by the injury to criticise the consequences of international windows: “As a club, we are trying to make the international authorities understand that these interruptions cause us harm.”

Raphinha's absence represents a real loss given his start to the season. The 29-year-old has already scored 12 goals and provided 3 assists in 7 La Liga matches. He is currently the top scorer in the Spanish league.
Across all competitions, his tally rises to 14 goals and 3 assists in just 8 appearances. The two additional goals were scored in the Champions League. These impressive statistics illustrate his importance to Barcelona's attack since the start of the season.
Barça now hope that this short break will allow him to return at 100% for the European meeting with PSG. In the meantime, Hansi Flick will have to find other attacking solutions against Getafe.
