Bayern Munich: Manuel Neuer's terrible blunder
Bayern Munich endured a nightmare start in Augsburg, with Manuel Neuer making a major error after just six seconds.
Bayern Munich could not have imagined a worse restart. Returning to the Bundesliga after a three-week break, the Bavarian club conceded a goal after just six seconds of play away to Augsburg.
The quick opening goal came after a huge mistake by Manuel Neuer. From Bayern's kickoff, Luis Diaz played a long back-pass to his goalkeeper. Neuer then took a slightly heavy first touch before attempting to dribble past Fellhauer, who was charging at full speed.
Neuer punished immediately
The move turned into a nightmare for the Bavarian captain. Fellhauer managed to block the ball out of the German goalkeeper's feet before running through alone towards the empty net and calmly finishing.
It was a sequence as rare as it was spectacular, completely catching Bayern cold with the match barely underway. Neuer, accustomed to contributing to his team's play well away from his goal line, was punished this time for a failed risk.
Bayern therefore immediately had to chase the score in a match that had been eagerly awaited as their return after the break. A disastrous opening, epitomised by this unusual error from their iconic goalkeeper.
