Belgium: Thibaut Courtois wants to talk with the new head coach

On Friday, Mark van Bommel was appointed as the new manager of Belgium, succeeding Rudi Garcia.

Speaking to HNL, Thibaut Courtois expressed his desire to talk with the new Red Devils boss. "I don't know him personally, but everyone is aware of his track record at Antwerp (head coach from 2022 to 2024). Plus, he built a brilliant playing career at top clubs and with the Dutch national team. So I'm definitely looking forward to having a conversation with him," the Belgian goalkeeper said.

Open to continuing his story with the national team, Courtois would like to receive permission to take a one-year break.

Mark van Bommel's first words on the Belgium bench

After spells in charge of PSV Eindhoven, VfL Wolfsburg, and Royal Antwerp since beginning his coaching career in 2018, Mark van Bommel made a real impact during his time in Belgium. In fact, with Antwerp, he pulled off a historic treble by winning the league title, the Belgian Cup, and the Supercup in the 2022-2023 season.
