France team: Laurent Blanc has no doubts about Zinédine Zidane

Tomorrow, the French Football Federation will officially name Didier Deschamps' successor as the head coach of the France national team. And the chosen one is indeed Zinédine Zidane.

On the side of the French Football Federation, there’s no suspense left. Zinédine Zidane will become the new manager of Les Bleus tomorrow. His former teammate Laurent Blanc has absolutely no doubt about his success with the French squad.

"He will take on the role with great pleasure. We have an exceptional generation, and he’ll want to make them shine. I’ve heard people say it’s going to be tough, that managing Les Bleus is something special… But, honestly, what could possibly faze Zidane? What should he be afraid of? He’s won three Champions League titles as a coach, he’s been a World Cup champion, and you think this job is going to overwhelm him? He knows exactly what to expect. He’ll be hailed as the greatest when they win, and he’ll be criticized after defeats. He’s seen it all before. I know him a little, and above all, he’s taking this on with immense pleasure. And I hope it’s the same for all of us," declared the former central defender in Nice-Matin.

Another 1998 World Cup winner to lead Les Bleus

After Deschamps, it’s now another member of the 1998 World Cup-winning team who’s set to take charge on the French bench. In fact, a few years after Laurent Blanc himself (2010-2012) and then Didier Deschamps (2012-2026), Zidane becomes the third key figure from the legendary 1998 squad to try and extend his legacy at the helm of Les Bleus.
