Bayern Munich - Dortmund: Saibari injured and Guirassy scores as BVB snatch a draw in a thrilling Klassiker!
Bayern Munich and Dortmund played out a spectacular draw. Guirassy scored, Kane missed a penalty and Saibari went off injured.
No one gained ground in the title race. Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, 31 October, at the Allianz Arena on matchday eight of the Bundesliga. Managed by Aaron Danks in Vincent Kompany’s absence, the Bavarians twice surrendered their lead.
Saibari injured, Laimer breaks the deadlock
The evening quickly took a turn for Ismaël Saibari. Sent through on goal, the Moroccan was denied by Gregor Kobel before colliding with the goalkeeper as he continued his run. Unable to carry on, he was replaced by Nathaniel Brown. It was a setback after his decisive performance in the German Cup.
Dortmund then thought they had opened the scoring through Jobe Bellingham, but VAR flagged a foul on Jonas Urbig. In the 38th minute, Konrad Laimer found a way through: played in behind, the Austrian followed up after Kobel had made an initial save.
Guirassy responds, Fábio Silva rescues Dortmund
After the break, Harry Kane missed the chance to extend Bayern’s lead, sending his penalty against the crossbar. Serhou Guirassy immediately brought Dortmund back into the game, equalising in the 60th minute from a pass by Carney Chukwuemeka.
Bayern regained the lead through Dayot Upamecano, who was set up by Kane from a corner. But Niko Kovac’s substitutions eventually paid off. Substitute Fábio Silva snatched a 2-2 draw in the 89th minute from a pass by Konstantinos Karetsas. The Bavarians were unable to hold on to their advantage.
The table and upcoming fixtures
