Real Madrid: Yan Diomandé linked to a surprising Ballon d’Or clause
The transfer of Yan Diomandé to Real Madrid reportedly includes a special provision. According to Sky Sport Germany, the Spanish club will have to pay €2.5 million to RB Leipzig if the Ivory Coast international ever wins the Ballon d’Or.
Yan Diomandé could earn his former club, RB Leipzig, an additional sum if he achieves individual honours at the highest level. According to information from Sky Sport Germany, reported by several media outlets, the Ivorian winger’s contract with Real Madrid reportedly includes a clause linked to winning the Ballon d’Or.
The provision calls for the payment of €2.5 million, or around 1.64 billion CFA francs, to the German club if the player wins the prestigious individual trophy while wearing the Madrid club’s colours.

A clause valid until 2033
The provision would remain valid until 2033, corresponding to the expiry of Yan Diomandé’s contract with the Spanish club. Such a reward would allow RB Leipzig to benefit financially from the possible rise of its former player.
The clause was reportedly negotiated at the initiative of Marcel Schäfer, a director at the German club. It would form part of the bonus mechanisms included in the transfer of the Ivorian forward.
If it comes to fruition, the deal would provide RB Leipzig with additional revenue several years after the winger’s departure.
Yan Diomandé would have to have his name among the Ballon d’Or winners, an honour that would reward an exceptional career at the pinnacle of world football. The information is attributed to Sky Sport Germany, as no contractual document has been made public to officially confirm the provision.
