Unforgettable night for the Atlas Lion.. Achraf Hakimi destroys Le Havre's defense with a five goal and assist tally
Morocco international Achraf Hakimi produced a historic performance on Friday 30 October scoring three goals and providing two assists as Paris Saint Germain came from behind to defeat Le Havre 5-1 in Ligue 1.
The 27 year old right back was directly involved in all five Parisian goals at the Stade Oceane, recording the first hat-trick of his professional career in the ninth round of the French championship.
Hakimi scored in the 28th, 55th and 69th minutes while creating goals for Mika Godts and Senny Mayulu.
Three goals and two assists: How Hakimi dominated Le Havre
Despite PSG's eventual dominance, the hosts made an impressive start.
Nigerian striker Josh Maja opened the scoring in the 18th minute, converting a cross from Rayan Fofana to give Le Havre an unexpected advantage.
However, Hakimi responded by completely transforming the encounter.
In the 26th minute, the Moroccan defender provided the decisive pass for Belgian winger Mika Godts to equalise.
Just two minutes later, Hakimi turned goalscorer.
Receiving a perfectly timed pass from Mayulu, he accelerated into the penalty area and beat goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart at the near post, giving PSG a 2-1 half time lead.
The Moroccan continued his outstanding display after the interval.
In the 55th minute, he scored his second goal with a powerful direct free kick, extending the visitors' advantage to two goals.
Seven minutes later, Hakimi supplied another assist, releasing Mayulu behind the defence before the youngster capitalised on Bodart's advanced position to score.
The PSG captain completed his hat trick in the 69th minute after receiving a pass from Godts, securing his team's emphatic 5-1 victory.
He was substituted just two minutes later, having directly contributed to every Parisian goal.
Hakimi reacts to the first hat trick of his career
The match represented a remarkable individual milestone for a player whose primary position remains at right back.
Hakimi had previously scored braces during his career but had never registered three goals in a single professional match.
Speaking to PSG TV after the final whistle, the Moroccan international expressed his delight at the achievement.
"It's a great evening for me, especially because we won" Hakimi said.
He added that he was particularly pleased to score his first hat-trick and hoped to contribute more goals for the club.
His performance illustrates the attacking freedom granted to him within Luis Enrique's tactical system.
Although primarily a defender, Hakimi frequently operates in advanced positions when PSG have possession, combining overlapping runs with movements into central attacking areas.
That versatility has made him one of Europe's most influential attacking full backs.
His latest contribution also follows his growing influence in the UEFA Champions League where he has approached major African assist records.
A remarkable response after the 2026 Ballon d'Or
Hakimi's historic performance came just four days after the Ballon d'Or 2026 ceremony in London.
The Moroccan international finished 13th in the final rankings, dropping seven places from his sixth place finish in 2025.
Despite that decline, he remains one of the highest profile African players in European football.
His attacking qualities were already highlighted in Foot Africa's assessment of African stars to watch in Ligue 1 this season.
Friday's performance provided another demonstration of his ability to influence matches beyond traditional defensive responsibilities.
PSG strengthen Ligue 1 lead ahead of Villarreal clash
The victory extended Paris Saint Germain's winning run to nine matches across all competitions.
Luis Enrique's side moved to 20 point from nine Ligue 1 fixtures, maintaining their position at the top of the standings.
The result also marked the Spanish coach's 127th competitive victory with PSG, moving him ahead of Laurent Blanc in the club's managerial record.
