Bayern Munich welcomes a new investor
Bayern Munich has just completed a major financial transaction. The German club has officially announced the arrival of Viessmann Generations Group as a new shareholder in its company, FC Bayern München AG. According to Bild, the deal is set to provide the Bavarian giants with an injection of €250 million.
Viessmann acquires a stake in Bayern
Specialising in heating and cooling solutions, the Viessmann family group is thus joining the business partners of Bayern Munich. Its acquisition of a stake is being carried out through a capital increase, which will slightly alter the distribution of shares.
According to the club’s statement, FC Bayern München eV, the association that controls the club, will retain 70% of the capital. Viessmann’s stake, initially presented as a 5% block, will ultimately amount to just under 6.7% after the transaction. Max Viessmann is also expected to join the company’s supervisory board, whose number of members will increase from nine to ten.
€250 million injection
According to Bild, the €250 million linked to the transaction will be paid into an escrow account once the deal has been entered in the commercial register. The stated aim is to strengthen the club’s liquidity and guarantee its financial independence over the long term. This reserve could give Bayern additional room for manoeuvre to support its development.
Viessmann is joining the club’s long-standing partners, including Adidas, Audi and Allianz, each of which holds a minority stake. With this new transaction, Bayern is continuing its business model based on majority control by its association and the involvement of industrial partners.
