Bayern: Vincent Kompany rushed to hospital

Although the information had already been disclosed, it has now been confirmed by Bayern Munich.

In an official statement published this Friday, the Bavarian club confirmed that its coach, Vincent Kompany, had been taken to hospital following a “medical episode that occurred during the reserve team’s training session”.

“The first-team coach was attending the second team’s session. Kompany will undergo extensive examinations at the hospital and will remain under medical care. Until then, his coaching staff will manage training and matches,” said the reigning German champions.

Kompany raises concerns

For several days, reports about the former Manchester City defender’s health had appeared in the German press. His presence on the Munich bench against Arsenal (2-2) on Wednesday in the Champions League had been called into question.

According to BILD and Sky Sport, Kompany reportedly fainted after the day’s training session at the Säbener Straße training centre. He was quickly attended to by emergency services before being placed under observation at the hospital in recent hours. Sky reports that his condition is “stable”.
