A North African combination to lead "WAC".. Nabi draws the roadmap with Wydad with Moroccan and Tunisian assistants
Wydad Casablanca have officially parted ways with Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio Brito and appointed Nasreddine Nabi as his replacement, with reports revealing the Tunisian's proposed coaching staff for the remainder of the 2026 /27 season.
The Moroccan giants announced Brito's departure by mutual agreement on Thursday 22 October bringing an end to his tenure less than three months after his appointment.
Wydad subsequently confirmed Nabi's arrival on Friday 23 October handing the former Raja Casablanca and Kaizer Chiefs manager a contract until the end of the current campaign.
The appointment comes amid growing pressure on the club following an underwhelming start to the Moroccan Botola Pro season.
According to Wydad's official announcement, the decision reflects the club's ambition to improve performances and strengthen its competitiveness across upcoming fixtures.
Meanwhile, Moroccan media have revealed significant changes to the technical staff, with Nabi reportedly preparing to work alongside Moroccan and Tunisian assistants.

Why did Wydad terminate Paulo Sergio Brito's contract?
Brito arrived at Wydad in July 2026 with expectations of restoring the club's competitiveness following a disappointing previous campaign.
However, his tenure quickly came under scrutiny after a difficult opening to the new season.
Wydad collected just five points from their first four Botola Pro matches recording one victory, two draws and one defeat.
Their results included a 3-1 home defeat against Widad Témara and a disappointing 1-1 draw with Amal Tiznit.
Those performances left the Casablanca club ninth in the league standings and increased pressure on the Portuguese manager.
Negotiations over Brito's departure reportedly encountered difficulties, particularly regarding the financial terms of terminating his contract.
Nevertheless, both parties eventually reached a mutual agreement.
In its farewell statement, Wydad thanked Brito for his work and wished him success in his future career.
The decision brings another managerial change to a club that had already experienced significant instability including Patrice Carteron's departure earlier in 2026.
Nasreddine Nabi's new Wydad coaching staff revealed
Nabi's appointment is expected to bring substantial changes behind the scenes.
According to a report published by Le360 Sport on 23 October, the Tunisian has selected several Moroccan and Tunisian coaches to form his technical team.
The reported appointments include:
- Souhaib Zarrouk (Tunisia): Assistant coach.
- Naim Aarab (Morocco): Assistant coach and former Wydad defender.
- Mourad Taouil (Morocco): Technical staff member who previously worked alongside Nabi at Raja Casablanca.
- Kaïs Makhlouf (Tunisia): Performance analyst.
- Firas Zaghal (Tunisia): Fitness coach.
- Tarek El Jarmouni (Morocco): Goalkeeping coach, expected to retain his existing position.
Aarab's proposed appointment is particularly significant because of his previous connection with Wydad.
The former defender also has coaching experience in Belgium with Anderlecht and within Morocco's Olympic national team setup.
Taouil, meanwhile, already understands Nabi's working methods from their time together at Raja.
The report also suggests that Nabi could appoint a second fitness coach, although no additional name has been confirmed.
While these names have been reported by Moroccan media, Wydad have not publicly confirmed the complete composition of the new technical staff.
Nabi returns to Casablanca after controversial Raja departure
The appointment marks Nabi's return to Moroccan football only weeks after leaving Wydad's city rivals Raja Casablanca.
The Tunisian joined Raja in June 2026 following the departure of South African coach Fadlu Davids.
As Foot Africa reported when Nabi initially agreed to take charge of Raja, the appointment was intended to strengthen the club's challenge for domestic honours.
However, his spell with the Green Eagles lasted less than three months.
Nabi left Raja at the end of August following disagreements concerning the club's sporting direction.
The departure came after he had already guided the team to several victories, including a dramatic 4-3 win against Renaissance Zemamra.
His experience in Morocco also includes a successful spell with AS FAR during the 2023/24 season when he led the Rabat club to second place in the Botola Pro and the Moroccan Throne Cup final.
Earlier in his career, Nabi coached Tanzania's Young Africans and South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs, where he helped end the club's long trophy drought with the 2025 Nedbank Cup.
What happens next for Nasreddine Nabi at Wydad?
Nabi's first challenge will be restoring confidence and improving Wydad's domestic results.
The Casablanca club are scheduled to face Union Touarga on Saturday 24 October providing an immediate test following the managerial change.
With only five points collected from four league matches, Wydad cannot afford to lose further ground in the race for the leading positions.
The Tunisian will also need to assess the squad's physical condition, establish his preferred tactical system and integrate the reported additions to his coaching staff.
His familiarity with Moroccan football could help accelerate that process, although the limited preparation time presents an immediate challenge.
