Manchester United: Antonio Conte sets the record straight about his future!

Antonio Conte has published a lengthy statement to clarify his situation, as his name continues to be mentioned as a possible successor to Michael Carrick at Manchester United.

Without a club since leaving Napoli, Antonio Conte continues to fuel discussion surrounding European dugouts. Several media outlets have recently linked him with succeeding Michael Carrick at Manchester United, with some even suggesting that he has moved closer to the Red Devils' hierarchy. But the 57-year-old Italian coach refuses to let these speculations be presented as completed negotiations.

Antonio Conte responds to the Manchester United rumours

In a statement published on Instagram, the former Chelsea and Tottenham manager says that his name has been linked with several clubs, but that “no negotiations are at an advanced stage”. He says he wants to take the time to choose his next project after his spell at Napoli.

Conte also denies reports that he has already demanded a specific salary, full control or exceptional guarantees. He considers these claims unfounded in the absence of concrete discussions. If a serious offer emerges, he will then discuss the terms of a possible collaboration with the club's officials. The clarification therefore does not close the door on Manchester United, but it confirms no agreement.

The coach had already indicated that he wanted to make the most of his break, despite rumours linking him with Manchester United or Juventus. His future remains open, while the results of Carrick's team continue to fuel debate over a possible change of manager.

What record and how many trophies did Conte win in England?

Conte's reputation in England is primarily based on his spell at Chelsea, between 2016 and 2018. In his first season, he won the Premier League in 2016-17 with 93 points and 30 wins in 38 matches. A tactical switch to a back three notably helped the Blues string together 13 consecutive league victories.

The coach then won the FA Cup in 2018, thanks to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the final. Across two seasons, his English honours therefore amount to two major trophies: one league title and one FA Cup.

Across his two Premier League spells, with Chelsea and then Tottenham (2021-2023), Conte managed 183 league matches, recording 110 wins, 29 draws and 44 defeats, equivalent to a success rate of around 60%. With Spurs, however, he won no trophies. These figures highlight his experience of English football without prejudging his next destination.

For Manchester United, the Italian's profile could represent an experienced option. It remains to be seen whether the club's officials decide to change direction and whether a project meeting Conte's expectations will materialise.
