Wilfred Ndidi enjoyed a special moment after scoring against Crystal Palace. The Nigerian midfielder, who opened the scoring in the 2-2 draw between Beşiktaş and the English club in the Europa League, explained the meaning behind his celebration after the match.

Ndidi satisfied with Beşiktaş’s performance

Speaking after the match, Ndidi felt that his team had put in an interesting performance, despite a difficult start to the first half:

I would say it was a good match today. We started slowly, but we found our rhythm and scored. The same thing happened in the second half. Overall, it was a good match.

The Nigerian was also pleased with Beşiktaş’s collective progress. He particularly highlighted the players’ commitment and the importance of the club:

Beşiktaş is a great community. We are showing that we can rise to the occasion against teams from the major leagues. We are on the right track, everyone is working and fighting. Everything is going well.

“I was saying well done to myself”

But it was above all his celebration that attracted attention. After scoring his team’s opening goal, Ndidi explained that he was addressing himself directly. “In reality, I was congratulating myself. I was saying to myself: well done, me,” the midfielder revealed.

A simple explanation that reflects a personal way of celebrating his achievement. Despite the disappointment of the draw, Ndidi can take satisfaction from his offensive contribution and Beşiktaş’s ability to compete with Crystal Palace.
