Junior Olaitan proud of his start to the season with Beşiktaş
Interview
Junior Olaitan continues to stand out in Beşiktaş colours. The Benin international midfielder, who scored his team’s second goal in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace in the Europa League, was delighted with the fighting spirit shown by the Istanbul side. He believes his team demonstrated what it means to wear the Turkish club’s shirt.
“We showed what it means to play for Beşiktaş”
After a fiercely contested match, Junior Olaitan praised the collective commitment of his teammates, while regretting that Beşiktaş were unable to hold on to their lead:
We fought very well. There was a real battle on the pitch and we managed to create some good chances. We showed everyone what it means to play for Beşiktaş. I congratulate the team and my teammates.
The Beninese player also looked back on the sending-off that made things more difficult for his team. In his view, being down to ten men affected the final result. “Crystal Palace are a good team. We fought against them. After the red card, we had to settle for a point,” he explained.
Olaitan among the Europa League’s decisive players
Beyond his goal against Crystal Palace, Junior Olaitan has posted particularly impressive statistics in his first European campaign. The Beninese midfielder has four goal contributions in three matches: one goal and three assists.
The Beninese midfielder is now looking ahead to the next challenges, with the ambition of continuing this momentum. For Beşiktaş, the challenge will be to turn these encouraging performances into more consistent results, while Olaitan intends to continue making an impact in European matches.
