Inter want to extend Carlos Augusto
Carlos Augusto could be rewarded by Inter. Having produced eye-catching performances since the start of the season, the Brazilian defender has become increasingly important in Cristian Chivu’s plans. According to several Italian media outlets, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri club wants to extend his contract.
Carlos Augusto has reached a new level
Arriving at Inter in the summer of 2023 after his spell at Monza, Carlos Augusto spent a long time in the shadow of Federico Dimarco, primarily serving as his backup on the left side. But this season, the Brazilian has stood out for his performances and versatility. Capable of playing as a left wing-back or a left-sided centre-back, he offers Cristian Chivu several options and is becoming more involved in attacking moves.
His decisive introduction against Bologna on October 17 particularly caught the eye: he scored a goal just seconds after coming on, before providing an assist for Ange-Yoan Bonny.
A contract extension in the works
Currently under contract with Inter until June 30, 2028, Carlos Augusto could soon receive a new deal, along with a salary increase. Talks with his entourage have been mentioned by the Italian press, although the final details remain to be clarified.
For Inter, the objective is to secure the future of a player who has become valuable in the rotation, while also recognising his development within the squad. At 27, the Brazilian international appears to have reached a new level in Milan. His recent performances could now lead to a contract extension.
