Clásico: Lamine Yamal fires the opening salvo
Spain world champion Lamine Yamal did not want to waste any time after the defeat to PSG in the Champions League. The Spaniard wants to bounce back before facing Real Madrid in La Liga next Sunday.
After the failure in Paris in the Champions League, Barcelona's dressing room had every reason to take a breather. The schedule is stepping up, with Real Madrid visiting Camp Nou on Sunday for a high-stakes clash. Faced with this relentless pace, Hansi Flick had granted the players a full day off on Thursday to allow their bodies to recover.
Yamal and the senior players already in training
The doors of FC Barcelona's training centre did not remain closed on Thursday. While the venue was expected to be quiet, a strong signal disturbed the calm. Lamine Yamal is reportedly the first to have arrived. There was no question of the Barcelona prodigy taking it easy on his sofa. Barely back from the Parc des Princes, the Spanish winger simply gave up his day off to come in and train.
Several senior players followed suit. Pedri, Fermin Lopez and surprise goalscorer Xavi Espart also took to the training ground, joined by the tireless Wojciech Szczesny, according to the Spanish press. Injured players Dani Olmo and Jules Koundé were also present.
