Levante: Etta Eyong decisive for the second straight match
Karl Etta Eyong scored Levante’s third goal against Athletic Club (3-1) on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in the 98th minute of the sixth matchday of La Liga. Already involved in the 5-0 victory on the previous matchday, the Cameroonian striker has now delivered decisive performances in two consecutive games, helping his team climb to 11th place with 10 points.
Karl Etta Eyong waited until the final seconds to make the difference. As Athletic Club still hoped to level the score after reducing the deficit to 2-1, the Cameroonian striker scored Levante’s third goal in the 98th minute. The goal definitively sealed the Valencians’ victory.
The match had nevertheless swung in Levante’s favor very early on. Roger Brugué scored twice in quick succession, in the 20th and 22nd minutes, giving his side a comfortable lead. Athletic Club revived the suspense in the 67th minute through a penalty converted by Álex Berenguer. But Etta Eyong ended the Basques’ hopes in stoppage time.
The victory takes Levante’s tally to 10 points and lifts them to 11th place in the standings. For Etta Eyong, the goal is above all a continuation of a positive run. On the previous matchday, he had already contributed to his team’s 5-0 victory. The Cameroonian has therefore played a part in his club’s positive results in two consecutive matches.
Six goals in his first season at Levante
Having joined Levante from Villarreal in September 2025, Etta Eyong enjoyed an encouraging first season. In La Liga, he made 30 appearances during the 2025-2026 campaign, including 15 starts, recording six goals and two assists. He accumulated around 1,416 minutes of league playing time.
Before joining Levante, the young striker had impressed with Villarreal’s reserve team, scoring 19 goals in 30 matches. His performances earned him a place in the first team, for which he also scored two goals in seven appearances.
At 23, Etta Eyong is continuing his development in the Spanish league. His goal against Athletic Club came after a period in which he had been hampered by a physical problem. The day before the match, Levante coach Luís Castro had confirmed that the striker had returned to training at 100%.
This return is already translating onto the pitch. After contributing to the previous emphatic victory, the Cameroonian found the back of the net this time. It remains to be seen whether these performances will enable him to regain a starting place and increase his playing time in the coming matchdays.
