Real Madrid vs Leipzig: the starting lineups
Tonight, Real Madrid face RB Leipzig on matchday three of the Champions League.
After beating Inter Milan (2-1) and edging past AS Roma (4-3), Real Madrid want to continue their perfect Champions League campaign against RB Leipzig tonight. The German club, meanwhile, have made a more mixed start to their campaign, suffering a heavy defeat to Como (4-1) before beating PSV Eindhoven (1-0).
The two coaches’ lineups
For this match, José Mourinho is without the injured Raul Asencio, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo. The Portuguese coach has opted for a 4-2-3-1, with Courtois in goal, Valverde at right-back, the Huijsen-Rüdiger partnership in central defence and Carreras on the left. Bernardo Silva will join Camavinga in front of the defence, while Güler, Bellingham and Vinicius, suspended in La Liga but not in the Champions League, will support Mbappé, who will lead the line alone. Yan Diomandé, who joined from RB Leipzig for €120M this summer, is not starting against his former club.
On the other side, Martin Demichelis is without Guiu, Ouedraogo and Zingerle and has also opted for a 4-2-3-1. Vendevoordt will guard the German goal behind a defence of Baku, Orban, Lukeba and Raum. El Aynaoui and Seiwald will play in front of the defence, while Gruda, Nkunku and Nusa will support Romulo Cardoso, who will lead the attack alone.
