Lionel Messi makes his return to Spain

In recent hours, Lionel Messi has returned to Spain.

The former Argentina international arrived with the aim of visiting the clubs he recently bought (CD Eldense and UE Cornella). He will also receive the Princess of Asturias Award, one of Spain’s most prestigious cultural and humanitarian distinctions, honoring individuals «for outstanding achievements in eight fields: the arts, sports, social sciences, communication and humanities, concord, international cooperation, scientific and technical research, and literature».

Messi to dine with the King of Spain

Already in Oviedo, Lionel Messi naturally caused a stir in this Spanish city of around 220,000 inhabitants. The Argentine went out to meet the crowd, but he will not be staying long in the capital of Asturias. This evening, he will dine with the King of Spain.

On Friday, Messi will attend the awards ceremony at the Campoamor Theatre from 6:30 p.m., before flying directly to New York that same evening so he can play in Inter Miami’s match against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.
