Clásico: Thibaut Courtois sends a warning to FC Barcelona
Asked to react after Real Madrid's dominant display against RB Leipzig, Thibaut Courtois sent a message to the Catalans ahead of next Sunday's Clásico.
After Wednesday's 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League, Real Madrid have now turned their attention to FC Barcelona. The Clásico will be played at Camp Nou on Sunday. It is a clash that Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is approaching with confidence.
"We have to close the gap with them, and we can only do that by winning," the Belgian said. "We are going there with confidence, and I hope we defend well so that we don't concede a goal," he added.
Mourinho is confident
For his part, José Mourinho believes he would have liked to approach the Clásico with the same amount of rest as the Catalans. "Full of confidence today? For the Clásico, there is no confidence, it's a league match like any other. Even if it's not quite the same, it would be a lie to say that it is. We are going there; for now, we are losing 24 hours of rest compared with our opponents, but we are going there," he said in an interview with Movistar+.
