Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder joins surprise club
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has been announced as a new signing at Hollywoodbets Regional League outfit Flamingo FC.
The 33-year-old KZN-born player had been unattached after his contract was abruptly terminated by Richards Bay midway through the 2024/25 campaign.
He allegedly had a dressing room altercation with the technical team at the Natal Rich Boyz, ultimately finding himself in the wilderness since February 2025.
Sithebe signed for the Jomo Biyela-owned side on a free transfer in July 2024 after his exit at Naturena, where he fell short of living up to expectations.
His move to Chiefs from AmaZulu FC in July 2022 was met with optimism, but he failed to make a goal contribution in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Usuthu enjoyed the player's best exploits as he chipped in with eight goals and nine assists in 132 games, establishing himself as one of the best in his position.
Now, Sithebe is set to spend the twilight years of his career in the fourth division of South African football with Flamingo FC.
With two Bafana Bafana caps to his name, the veteran midfielder brings a wealth of experience, as the club looks to gain promotion to the third-tier.
