Keletso Makgalwa on target in thumping Simba CAFCL win
Keletso Makgalwa found the back of the net as Simba SC thrashed 15 de Agosto 6-1 in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second round tie.
Nathaniel Chilambo broke the deadlock in the 44th minute, before tricky DR Congo attacker Elie Mpanzu doubled the lead 11 minutes after the restart.
The Tanzanian giants continued their dominance with Ibrahim Doumbia making it 3-0 in the 65th minute, while Makgalwa was on target seven minutes later.
Former Stellenbosch FC midfielder Anicet Oura also got on the score sheet in the 82nd minute, as Doumbia completed his brace two minutes from time.
Agosto scored a consolation goal in stoppage time, and face an uphill battle to overturn the deficit in the return leg in Tanzania on Sunday.
Steve Barker and his troops have one foot in the group stage, having beaten Mighty Wanderers of Malawi 7-1 on aggregate in the first round.
Having taken over midway through the campaign last season, the South African mentor has been tasked with mounting a strong run in the competition this term.
With the quarterfinal stage proving to be a hurdle for Simba, Barker will be eager to guide the club to the semi-final for the first time since the 1973/74 season.
