LaLiga: Real Madrid at the center of an refereeing controversy
A few hours after the controversy between Arda Güler and Peque, LaLiga broke its silence to respond to accusations that footage had been concealed at the Santiago Bernabéu.
For yet another time, Real Madrid finds itself at the center of a refereeing controversy. Indeed, during Sunday evening's 4-1 win over Sevilla FC, Arda Güler escaped a possible sending-off after a heavy challenge involving Peque in the 24th minute. The incident has caused frustration in Spain, especially as the Turkish attacking midfielder went on to contribute to the Merengues' victory.
The absence of sufficiently clear footage to allow VAR to intervene raises questions. While some suspect a deliberate cover-up, LaLiga has decided to speak out.

The Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) reached a similar conclusion. “You can make out that there was contact, but not which part of the body made contact or where,” explained a refereeing source quoted by AS.
