The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has set the provisional date on which it will rule on the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation against the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) concerning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.

In an official statement published on Monday, the court indicated that the arbitration panel had begun its deliberations following the closed-door hearing held at its headquarters in the city of Lausanne on 8 October, adding that the deliberations were still ongoing.

It added that preparing a comprehensive decision including the legal reasoning would take several weeks, and that the decision should be issued at the end of next November.

The Senegalese national team had been crowned champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Morocco in the final, before the continental body decided to strip it of the title and award it to the Moroccan team, while also imposing heavy sanctions on both teams.

In response to this decision, the Senegalese Football Federation decided to refer the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport

The CAS statement is as follows:

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) today, 19 October 2026, published an official statement concerning the legal proceedings related to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

The court explained that the statement formed part of a procedural update concerning the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

It specified that the hearing had been held behind closed doors at the court’s headquarters in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Thursday, 8 October 2026.

It added that the arbitration panel had begun its deliberations, which were still ongoing, affirming its intention to issue a comprehensive decision including its reasoning and legal grounds.

This procedure is expected to take several weeks, with the final decision due to be issued at the end of November 2026.

The court also stressed that only information published through its official channels was authoritative, specifying that any further developments in the matter would be published on its website.
