Real Madrid: Yan Diomandé sets a major record
On Sunday evening, Yan Diomandé produced a standout performance in Real Madrid's victory over Sevilla in La Liga. The Ivory Coast international even set a fine record.
A week after scoring his first goal for Real Madrid, Yan Diomandé struck again on Sunday evening in the emphatic 4-1 victory over Sevilla on the ninth matchday of the Spanish league. The Ivorian scored a goal he created almost entirely on his own after receiving a pass from the right.
Diomandé makes history in La Liga
With his goal against Sevilla and his assist, Yan Diomandé became, as of Sunday, the first Real Madrid player under the age of 20 in the 21st century to score and provide an assist in the same La Liga match, according to statistician Opta. He was 19 years and 338 days old, as noted.
A historic goal that earned a LeBron James-style celebration, whom he knows well after previously meeting the basketball star on the sidelines of an event with his agent Jay-Z, the American rap icon, and another figure from the US music scene, DJ Khaled.
