Rangers have opted for caution. According to information from Ekrem Konur, the Scottish club's hierarchy will not make a decision on the Badredine Bouanani file before the end of the season.

The player, who arrived on loan, will therefore spend several months in uncertainty. The purchase option of £15.5 million, roughly €18 million, will stay on ice.

Preparedness and deliberation from Rangers

In a market where clubs often pay dearly for their impatience, Rangers are taking the opposite path to the rush forward. Nothing obliges them to trigger the option right away, and they have no intention of letting their hand be forced. The Scottish decision-maker would rather buy himself time than sign a cheque for twenty million euros on the strength of an early-season crush.

The sum is far from trivial for a Scottish club. It weighs heavily on the budget and leaves no room for a costly misjudgement. An acknowledged doubt is preferable to a regret at that price.

Above all, Rangers want to see Bouanani over the long haul. A handful of fine moments will not be enough to convince them. The club intends to judge the winger's consistency, his ability to make an impact in the big fixtures and his adaptation to a league unlike any other.

For the player, the equation is clear: he has the whole season to establish himself, and his future now rests on him alone. Every match becomes another piece of evidence to add to the file.

The decision will be made soon

The timeline is now set. There will be no decision in the winter transfer window: the club will wait until the end of the campaign before taking stock of the situation regarding their loaned player. The summer will therefore reveal whether Bouanani stays in Scotland or heads back to where he came from.

Until then, the winger has every reason to let his feet do the talking. At the same time, Rangers keep the upper hand and all of their options open.
