Real Madrid: altercation with Federico Valverde, Tchouameni reveals the full truth

With three days to go before the clash between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, Aurélien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde are still making headlines.

At the end of last season, a violent altercation broke out between the two Real Madrid players. Federico Valverde even ended up in hospital to receive several stitches to his head. The incident, which became public, led Real Madrid to fine each player €500,000.

Tchouameni explains

More than five months later, French midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni spoke about the incident for the first time on The Bridge, the programme he co-hosts. “I want to clarify a few things. There was no fight like people said. Things happened in the dressing room, as happens everywhere. There were a few minor scuffles; something inappropriate happened. But because you are at Real, a minor incident takes on huge media proportions and a problem that was not necessarily one becomes enormous. Everyone calls you, everyone wants to know what happened,” he said.

When asked whether his Uruguayan teammate had actually tripped, the France international preferred to dodge the question. “The other day, I was watching a documentary about the NFL; well, things like that happen all the time. Today, you walk into the dressing room and Fede and I are on good terms; life goes on. Someone told me that things like that bring people closer. I have no problem,” he added.
