Brazil takes strong decision against foreigners in favour of young players

In recent hours, the Brazilian Football Confederation has taken a strong decision.

The Brazilian Football Confederation has decided to progressively reduce the number of foreign players allowed on a match sheet. From nine currently, the number will fall to five in 2030. According to journalist Paulo Vinicius Coelho, the measure is intended in particular to give more playing time to young Brazilians, whose development is a concern within the CBF.

“The national team staff believes that the current problem with young Brazilian players is that they do not mature because they do not play. And they play neither here nor abroad. Take Endrick or Estêvão: they leave here at 18 or 19, arrive in Europe at a big club and do not play. If they do not play, they do not mature,” PVC said on UOL.

It should be noted that the quota will fall to eight foreign players in 2027 before being gradually reduced to five in 2030.
