Barely two weeks after extending his contract with RCD Mallorca, Martin Demichelis is on the verge of making a surprising career move. According to several European media outlets, the Argentine manager has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig and is expected to become the new head coach of the German club in the coming days.

Martin Demichelis could join RB Leipzig within days, with only the official confirmation from both parties remaining. He is set to leave Mallorca for the Bundesliga, a move that comes as a real shock in Spain. The 45-year-old coach had recently renewed his commitment to Mallorca, giving the impression he was there for the long haul with the Balearic side.

This decision throws a wrench into Mallorca's plans, as the club was already preparing for next season with Demichelis at the helm.

A return to familiar territory

This move also marks a return to a league Demichelis knows well. A former Bayern Munich defender for more than seven seasons, he began his coaching career within the Bavarian club's youth academy.

This experience in Germany undoubtedly influenced the Leipzig board, who were keen to appoint a coach well-versed in the demands of the Bundesliga.
