CAF meeting: what will be discussed in Johannesburg

The leaders of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), chaired by South African Patrice Motsepe, will gather this Tuesday in Johannesburg to review several strategic issues that could reshape the future of African football and bring major reforms to continental competitions.

According to South African journalist Micky Jnr, who shared details on his official account on the (X) platform, the meeting will bring together key CAF officials as well as the presidents of the national federations.

Several proposals aimed at modernizing competitions and strengthening Africa's football infrastructure will be up for discussion.

Main topics on the CAF meeting agenda

The members of the CAF Executive Committee will focus on the following points:

• Reconstruction of 30 stadiums in Africa's least developed countries.
  
• Adoption of new safety and security standards for all CAF competitions.
  
• Review of the proposal from the Cameroonian Football Federation to create an African Nations League for national teams, based on rankings.
  
• Study the launch of an African Nations League for the U17 and U23 categories.
  
• Examination of restructuring proposals for the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
  
• Discussion around the controversy concerning club registration deadlines and licensing matters.
  
• Presentation of the latest developments regarding the 2027 and 2028 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
  

Additionally, CAF has confirmed that no extension will be granted regarding the club registration deadline, set for July 25.

However, the continental body clarified that individual waivers may be granted to certain federations, in accordance with current regulations.
