CAN 2025 - Gabon: Suspension lifted for Aubameyang (official)
Aubameyang

Just days after announcing the suspension of its national team and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gabon has reversed its decision.

Following Gabon's elimination from the 2025 AFCON in the group stage, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had been suspended by his country's government, along with the national team itself. On Monday evening, this sanction—which also included captain Bruno Ecuele Manga—was officially lifted.

"The Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) informs the national and international sporting community that, as of Monday, January 12, 2026, the government measures suspending the national team and excluding players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bruno Ecuele Manga following the national team's disappointing results at AFCON have been lifted. (...) FEGAFOOT welcomes the positive resolution of this matter," read the official statement.
