It's time for the real action! After a fiercely contested group stage, we now know the eight teams that have booked their spots in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

The tournament is unfolding in Morocco from July 26 to August 16, 2026. The eight quarter-finalists are Morocco, Algeria, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Malawi, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Ghana.

The stakes are doubled for these quarter-finalists, as the teams that reach the semi-finals will also punch their tickets to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Ivory Coast vs Algeria

The first quarter-final brings together Ivory Coast and Algeria this Saturday, August 8, at 17:00 GMT. After finishing third in 2014, the Ivorians will be aiming for another trip to the final four, but the Algerians are dreaming of a first-ever appearance at this stage of the competition.

Ivory Coast topped Group B with wins over Burkina Faso (4-1) and Tanzania (2-1), and a draw with South Africa (2-2). Algeria, meanwhile, finished second in Group A behind hosts Morocco, beating Senegal (2-0) and Kenya (2-0) but losing to Morocco (0-1).

This will be the third meeting between the two sides. The Desert Warriors won both previous encounters in 2014 friendlies (3-1) and (2-1).

Morocco vs South Africa

Later on Saturday evening, Morocco faces South Africa (20:00 GMT). This is a rematch of the 2022 Women’s AFCON final, which the Bayana Bayana won 2-1 in Morocco thanks to a brace from Hildah Magaia (63’, 71’). Rosella Ayane pulled one back for the Atlas Lionesses (80’).

Despite a goalless draw in their last group game, Ghizlane Chebbak and her teammates finished top of their group after victories over Kenya (4-1) and Algeria (1-0). South Africa, meanwhile, clinched qualification with a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso, after losing to Tanzania (1-2) and drawing with Ivory Coast (2-2).

Cameroon vs Nigeria

The quarter-finals continue on Sunday (17:00 GMT) with a thrilling showdown between Cameroon and Nigeria. These two sides have faced each other 14 times before, with Nigeria claiming eight wins, two draws, and four losses.

Their last official meeting came at this same stage of the competition in 2022, where Nigeria advanced to the semi-finals with a 1-0 victory.

After a shock 2-3 defeat to Malawi in their opening match, Nigeria bounced back to finish second in Group C with wins over Zambia (1-0) and Egypt (6-2).

Cameroon, on the other hand, topped Group D by beating Mali (2-1) and Ghana (1-0) before sharing points with Cape Verde (1-1).

Malawi vs Ghana

The final quarter-final pits Malawi, this year’s surprise package, against Ghana. Kick-off is set for Sunday at 20:00 GMT.

In their maiden qualification, the Scorchers stunned Nigeria (3-2) and then Egypt (3-1). Even a defeat to Zambia (1-2) couldn’t stop them from topping Group C.

The Black Queens finished second in Group D after a draw with Mali (1-1). Their opening win over Cape Verde (2-0) was crucial, and despite a setback against Cameroon (1-0) on Matchday 2, they secured their quarter-final spot.
