Celtic: Martin O'Neill wants to extend Kelechi Iheanacho's stay

The future of Kelechi Iheanacho could well be at Celtic Glasgow. Manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed that the club is currently working on a deal to extend the Nigerian striker's contract, after a standout season in the Hoops jersey.

Having arrived last summer on a one-year contract with an option to extend, Iheanacho is now at the center of talks to continue his adventure in Glasgow. While the extension option was not triggered automatically, both sides are negotiating a new deal, and discussions are reportedly progressing positively.

Other clubs keeping a close eye

Despite Celtic's desire to keep the Nigerian international, several clubs are closely monitoring his situation. Beşiktaş, Bursaspor, Vasco da Gama, and Samsunspor are all said to be interested. However, Kelechi Iheanacho's priority remains to continue with the Scottish champions.

At 29, the former striker has played a major role in Celtic's double-winning campaign last season. His last-minute winning goals against Kilmarnock, Dundee, Hibernian, and Motherwell alone brought in twelve crucial league points, further highlighting his importance to the squad.
