Champions League 2026-2027: Shakhtar Donetsk considers London for home matches

Shakhtar Donetsk is exploring several options to host its home fixtures in the 2026-2027 Champions League. According to multiple sources, the Ukrainian club is in discussions with Chelsea, Fulham, and Brentford about playing their European matches at one of their stadiums in London.

Having qualified for the group stage of the competition, Shakhtar is still forced to play far from its historic home, the Donbass Arena, which has not been used since 2014 due to the conflict in Ukraine.

London, a credible option

The three London clubs are not participating in any European competitions this season, meaning their stadiums would be available to host Shakhtar's matches. This solution would also allow the host clubs to receive a financial compensation paid by the Ukrainian side.

Since the start of the war, Shakhtar has already played its European home games in Germany, Slovenia, and Poland. A move to London would mark a new chapter in this long period of exile.

No final decision has been made yet, but discussions are ongoing to identify the stadium that will host the Ukrainian club's European fixtures next season.
