Champions League 2029: Barcelona officially submits bid to host the final
FC Barcelona has officially submitted its bid to the European football governing body to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final. The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Catalan club through an official statement.
The application was presented jointly with the city of Barcelona, the government of Catalonia, and with the support of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the host association and co-organizer of the bid.
According to the club, all the technical, contractual, and institutional documents required by UEFA have been submitted. The dossier also includes the necessary guarantees to demonstrate the organizational capability of the Spotify Camp Nou stadium, as well as the city’s ability to host one of the world’s biggest football events.
A modernized Camp Nou as the main asset
In its bid, FC Barcelona highlights the Catalan capital’s experience in organizing major international events and the features of its legendary venue. Currently undergoing a major transformation, Spotify Camp Nou aims to become one of the most modern, innovative, and iconic stadiums in the world. The club also points out that the venue, historically recognized by UEFA as an elite category stadium, remains the largest in Europe in terms of capacity.
With the official submission of the bid, the application phase is now complete. UEFA will begin evaluating the different proposals before selecting the host city for the 2029 Champions League final. The final decision is expected in the last quarter of this year.
