Champions League playoffs: Moussa Niakhaté shares his thoughts on Fenerbahçe
After overturning Sparta Prague (1-2, 3-0), Olympique Lyonnais will face Fenerbahçe in the playoffs for a coveted spot in the Champions League.
The French side is already on high alert. The challenge ramps up for Les Gones as they prepare to take on the likes of Mason Greenwood, Romelu Lukaku, and N'Golo Kanté. According to central defender Moussa Niakhaté, this clash will be a real litmus test for Olympique Lyonnais.
"This is just the beginning of the Champions League. If we want to get there, we'll have to face teams like Fenerbahçe, or even stronger. Nothing has come easy for OL in recent seasons. We've drawn a heavyweight, but I’m excited to play against a side like this. That's what football is all about—taking on top teams. I believe we have nothing to envy them for, if we play like we did in the second leg against Sparta. If we bring the right ingredients, we'll give them a real headache," the Senegalese international told L'Équipe.
