Champions League: Serhou Guirassy targets an African record
Serhou Guirassy can move closer to the Senegalese player in the all-time ranking of African scorers in the Champions League. With 21 goals, the Borussia Dortmund player continues his rise ahead of facing Sabah FK this Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
Serhou Guirassy is now targeting Sadio Mané’s 27 goals in the Champions League. The Guinean striker has scored 21 goals in the competition. He occupies fifth place in the ranking of Africa’s top scorers, behind Mohamed Salah, Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o and Sadio Mané.
Guirassy six goals short of Sadio Mané’s record
With 21 goals, Guirassy has scored six fewer than Sadio Mané, who has 27. The Senegalese player occupies fourth place in the all-time African ranking. Another goal against Sabah FK would allow the Guinean to reduce that gap.
Mohamed Salah leads the ranking with 50 goals. Didier Drogba follows with 44 goals, ahead of Samuel Eto’o and his 30 goals. Guirassy can now look to close the gap on these African football benchmarks.

A new European challenge for the Guinean
The Borussia Dortmund striker enjoyed an impressive European campaign in 2024-2025, scoring 13 goals in the Champions League. This season, he notably scored twice against Villarreal on the opening matchday, according to information released ahead of that encounter.
Against Sabah FK, Guirassy will have another opportunity to increase his tally. One more goal would bring him closer to Sadio Mané’s 27 goals, although matching the Senegalese player’s record would still require several more goals.
