Gambian Suleiman Camara scored Slovan Bratislava’s only goal in their 6-1 defeat at the Parc des Princes, having already found the net twice during the qualifying rounds.

Suleiman Camara got on the scoresheet on his first appearance in the Champions League league phase. The Slovan Bratislava forward scored his team’s goal in the 58th minute against Paris Saint-Germain, with the hosts already leading 5-0 at the time. The Slovakian side eventually suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat, but Camara once again showcased his efficiency since the start of the European campaign.

A quality goal at the Parc des Princes

Camara reduced the deficit with an impressive individual effort. Receiving the ball on the left, he initially slowed down before accelerating past his marker. After entering the penalty area near the byline, he created the necessary angle and curled his shot into the far corner. The goal brought Slovan back to 5-1 before PSG added a sixth.

Despite the final scoreline, the Gambian managed to make his mark against the reigning European champions.

Two goals in the qualifying rounds

Camara’s goal in Paris was his third of the Champions League campaign, including the qualifying rounds.

His first came on August 4 away to Mjällby in Sweden. With Slovan trailing, Camara equalised in the 78th minute, helping his side secure a 2-1 victory. He then provided an assist for Manasse Kianga, who scored the winning goal in stoppage time.

A week later, in the return leg in Bratislava, Camara found the net again. He opened the scoring in the 47th minute, contributing to Slovan’s 2-0 victory and helping the club book its place in the next round.

Three goals to start his European campaign

With his goal against PSG, Suleiman Camara now has three goals in the Champions League this season, including those scored in the qualifying rounds.

Having joined Slovan Bratislava this summer from Racing Santander, the Gambian international has quickly made an impact on the European stage. His two goals against Mjällby helped the Slovakian club progress, before he found the net again in their opening league-phase game against PSG.

The defeat in Paris was undoubtedly a heavy one for Slovan, but Camara can take encouragement from his attacking consistency at the start of the campaign: three goals across three stages of the competition, scoring in each round in which he has featured decisively.
