The same total was also reached by John Utaka with RC Lens in 2002-2003, Yakubu Aiyegbeni for Maccabi Haifa FC that same season, and Tijani Babangida with AFC Ajax in the 1996-1997 campaign.

By breaking the eight-contribution barrier, Victor Osimhen has become the most decisive Nigerian in a single Champions League season.
