Chelsea faces a major setback regarding Alex Scott!

Chelsea's hopes of landing Bournemouth's highly rated young midfielder Alex Scott have been dealt a serious setback.

The Blues had been eager to strengthen their midfield options during the summer window that has just closed. Much of that ambition stemmed from the cloud of doubt hanging over Enzo Fernandez's future at Stamford Bridge, which pushed the club to explore moves for some of the continent's most sought-after talents.

Chelsea still wants to sign the player!

Fernandez ultimately completed a deadline-day switch to Manchester City, leaving Chelsea empty-handed in their search for a suitable replacement. That gap in the squad has kept the Blues actively scouting the market for midfield reinforcements, and Alex Scott sits near the very top of their shortlist.

Their interest, though, has already run into a wall. According to TEAMtalk, Bournemouth have no appetite whatsoever for doing business in the middle of the season. Chelsea learned just how firm that stance is during the summer, when a £60 million offer for the midfielder was turned down flat.

Even so, the London side have not given up hope. They view Scott as a perfect piece for Xabi Alonso's tactical setup, and the player himself is believed to be receptive to the idea of moving to Stamford Bridge. None of that changes Bournemouth's position, however — the Cherries are adamant that he stays put through the 2026/27 campaign, or at the very least until the current season reaches its conclusion.
