The Gunners took advantage of defensive lapses from their opponents in this match. After just 23 seconds, Calafiori already managed to launch his team forward through Lewis-Skelly. The Italian defender broke into the box before beating Donnarumma with a left-footed finish (1-0, 1st minute). Manchester City then tried to take control of the ball.

Enzo Maresca's men lacked precision in their passing and inspiration in the final third. Dominant both in play and physically, the Londoners doubled their lead approaching the half-hour mark. The Manchester defense looked on passively as Odegaard delivered a cross to the far post. Tzolis was completely unmarked to head the ball back across goal for Havertz, who nodded home from close range (2-0, 28th minute).

The Citizens responded before the break. Haaland saw his shot parried by Raya, then White deflected Doku's effort, which looked destined for goal.
