FC Barcelona legend Gérard Piqué didn’t miss the chance to poke fun at Real Madrid following their elimination in the Copa del Rey round of 16.

Just three days after losing the Spanish Super Cup final, Real Madrid crashed out of the Copa del Rey against Albacete (3-2). The unexpected defeat sent shockwaves across social media. What looked like a straightforward match on paper for Los Merengues turned into a disaster at the final whistle.

Gerard Piqué, president of the Kings League and former FC Barcelona defender, simply couldn’t resist adding his trademark irony. On the Twitch chat of the competition, the former Spain international dropped a cheeky comment: “Good start for the new Madrid.”
