Corinthians: Memphis Depay extends contract until 2028
Memphis Depay remains at Corinthians. The Brazilian club officially announced on Tuesday, August 18, that the Dutch striker has extended his contract until July 31, 2028, putting an end to speculation about his future.
Having arrived in São Paulo in September 2024, Memphis Depay has committed to Corinthians for two more seasons. The new deal keeps the number 10 at the club through the summer of 2028. According to the official statement, the Dutchman has already made 79 appearances and scored 20 goals in the Timão shirt. The club also highlighted his crucial role in their last three trophies: the 2025 Paulistão, the 2025 Copa do Brasil—where he notably scored the decisive goal against Vasco at the Maracanã—and the 2026 Supercopa Rei.
A player who has become indispensable
Beyond the numbers, Memphis quickly established himself as one of the key figures in Corinthians' project. His experience from PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Lyon, FC Barcelona, and Atlético de Madrid brings an extra dimension to the Brazilian squad. His ability to play between the lines, create chances, and make the difference in decisive moments is a big reason why the club’s management has renewed their trust in him.
This extension also comes at a time when the Dutchman continues to be a major influence for his national team. Since joining Corinthians, he has become the all-time top scorer and assist provider for the Netherlands, with 55 goals and 37 assists for his country. The club is set to keep relying on his experience and leadership for the remainder of the season.
Memphis eager for more trophies
The man himself did not hide his satisfaction after negotiations concluded. “Corinthians is a massive club,” Memphis declared, adding that he now has “many goals” to achieve with the team.
Already back in training at the Dr. Joaquim Grava Center on Tuesday, the number 10 is available to coach Fernando Diniz for the remainder of the 2026 season. Corinthians have thus secured one of their main attacking assets and extended a partnership that, since 2024, has already delivered three trophies.
