Côte d'Ivoire: Hervé Renard reacts to Yan Diomandé's transfer to Real Madrid
Back in Côte d'Ivoire to take charge of the national team, Hervé Renard praised Yan Diomandé's transfer to Real Madrid this Thursday.
After lengthy negotiations, Real Madrid announced this Thursday the signing of Yan Diomandé from Leipzig on a seven-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2033. The €140 million transfer, bonuses included, makes the Ivorian the most expensive signing in the history of the Madrid club. He also becomes the most expensive African player ever and the fifth biggest transfer of all time.
Asked shortly before the official announcement, the new Elephants head coach, Hervé Renard, congratulated the Ivorian international during his first press conference marking his return to the national team. “Congratulations to him. After an outstanding season with Leipzig and a truly brilliant World Cup, he is reaping the rewards of all his hard work and everything he has achieved so far. It will be a source of pride for all Ivorians to see one of their own playing once again for such a massive club. We wish him all the best with his new team.” he stated.
By signing with Real Madrid, Yan Diomandé becomes the first Ivorian player to join the biggest club in the world.
